The all-time leader of the legendary avant-garde rock group “Aukcion” Leonid Feodorov and a virtuoso bassist Vladimir Volkov give a duo performance in St. Katrinos church on September, the 12th at 8 p.m.
Their musical friendship has begun in 2004. Since then Feodorov and Volkov continue to amaze listeners with much unexpected and yet beautiful results of their fruitful collaboration. Listeners can well remember their stunning albums “Dzois”, 2004; a trilogy – “Tajal”, 2005; “Bezonders”, 2005 and “Krasota”, 2006. The shortest description of their music would be “surprise” as one never knows what to expect from the Duo. Poetry with a quiet music as a background, songs in a more usual sense mixed up with futuristic soundscapes knitted of strange noises and whispers.
The newest album by the Duo “Romances” came out in 2007. The song titles: “Sonnet”, “Romance”, “Tango”, “R.A.P”, “Waltz” propose a journey across various music styles however it would be naive to expect “pure genre” from Feodorov and Volkov. Namely overcoming genre boundaries is the central idea of this conceptual work.
The Duo pays particular attention to song lyrics. According to Feodorov: “texts is the core of this recording”. Songs from the latest album are based on works of two incredible while much underestimated poets – Aleksandr Vedenskij who lived in the beginning of the century and a musician and song writer Aleksej Khvostenko-Khvost (died in 2004).
